Tate Exchange Associates include charities to universities, healthcare trusts to community radio stations working within and beyond the arts, working closely with one another and with Tate to respond to the theme of ‘exchange’. Digital Making Art School With Digital Maker Collective, University of the Arts London - 22 Feb to 22 March
Digital Maker base camps will evolve and respond to themes, public interactions and our invited guest maker activities, interventions, debates and performances happening throughout the four dates, see more details here:
- 8 February: Pop-up 1 – Digital New and The Familiar: How do we reconcile digital unknowns with the everyday?
- 22 February: Pop-up 2 – Deconstructing the Digital: Explore resistance, activism, risk taking & taking things apart
- 8 March: Pop-up 3 – Digital Friction: Explore ways of subverting & confronting digital friction & technology overload
- 22 March: Pop-up 4 – Virtually Real Environments: Explore physical & virtual space, new worlds & spatial narratives

The Tate Exchange finally opened its doors on the 28th September and UAL Digital Maker Collective are really looking forward to being part of an exciting new journey as one of over 50 UK Tate Exchange Associates from across the country.
Tate Exchange Associates include charities to universities, healthcare trusts to community radio stations working within and beyond the arts, working closely with one another and with Tate to respond to the theme of ‘exchange’. See the full list of Associates on the Tate Exchange website.
The Digital Maker Collective are one of three University of the Arts London Founding Associates invited to be part of the Tate Exchange 2016/17 programme. the other UAL associates include Interior and spatial design programme at Chelsea College of Arts and the Central Saint Martins Fine Art programme.
The Digital Maker Collective are an open group of University of the Arts staff, students, alumni who share common goals of exploring digital & emerging technologies in the context of arts, education, society and the creative industries. The Collective meet regularly through interdisciplinary interest led group meet-ups, gatherings, activities and events in collaboration with the arts/tech sector and industries.

The Digital Maker Collective values:
- Support and share unique perspectives of digital making & emergent practice in the arts (openness)
- Foster a co-produced, participatory approach to exploring digital arts learning and social engagement (trust & generosity)

Nicholas Serota spoke about the team journey in making the Tate Exchange a reality, he talked about the exciting new opportunity the Tate Exchange offered to public and how they hope the 'experiment' will transform the way the arts engage with the community.
It's really fantastic to see our Digital Maker Collective represented along side the other inspirational associates at the entrance of Tate Exchange and we are looking forward to many new & interesting future collaborations.
